How to Propose in Savannah Georgia

Are you thinking about popping the BIG question to your significant other? I have the best tips on how to propose in Savannah, Ga.

Savannah Georgia is one of the prettiest little towns in the country. There’s so much history, old architecture, beautiful nature including the famous live oaks hanging with Spanish moss and so much more! There’s a perfect backdrop for photos at every turn making it the perfect location to propose.

Proposing can be super scary and intimidating. You want every small detail to be perfect! Use these tips below to help plan the perfect Savannah proposal and make sure to contact me to capture the moment.

Tip #1: Plan, plan, plan

The best way to have a successful proposal is to PLAN! Although we usually want proposals to be during the perfect time and sometimes you can’t always plan that - last minute proposal don’t always turn out the way you want them to, so you want to be prepared for everything. Winging it could also make you even more nervous because you’ll feel less prepared.

Plan where, when, and how months before you get down on one knee. This is especially important if you’re reaching out to professionals or vendors to help you out. With my personal proposal clients, I like to have at least a month or two in advance to help pick locations, outfits, time frame, etc.

Tip #2: Hire A Professional

Proposing in Savannah isn’t a hard task BUT hiring professionals could make the process much easier and put less weight on your shoulders. Consider hiring a professional photographer to capture the moment. Our current world is heavily revolved around social media and posting about every aspect of our lives; your significant other will most likely want the moment captured.

Savannah proposal photoshoots with me usually look like this:

  1. Initial Inquiry

  2. I help plan out ALL the details including the location you want with my custom location guide.

  3. You tell me how long you want the shoot. I have two popular options when it comes to proposals: a 30 minute mini or an hour long session.

  4. The big day comes. I will get to the location at least 15-20 minutes early to get set up and ready. I’ll then capture the initial moment and then we’ll do an engagement shoot afterwards.

  5. The same day, you’ll receive 5 sneak peek photos

  6. 2 weeks from the date, you’ll receive all the edited photos on an online gallery

Tip #3: Think About Your Partner

This is a big day for a lot of couples! Some people imagine what they want their proposal to look like for years, so it’s important to put your partner’s needs and wants first. If your partner is shy, maybe don’t choose a location that can be super busy like the fountain at Forsyth Park. Maybe think about incorporating some of their favorite things or do an activity that you both love doing. This moment is about you two, so make it special.

Extra tip: tell your partner’s friend a head of time, so they can help plan their outfit, get their nails done, etc.

Tip #4:  be Yourselves

Sometimes people get in their heads that a proposal needs to be a big production or at a super fancy location, but be true to yourselves as a couple. If you’re more comfortable in a casual outfit and that’s what you wear day to day, then wear that. If being outdoors is y’alls thing, then propose outside in nature. Make it personal and fun!

Tip #5: Relax & Enjoy

It’s ok and normal to be a little nervous, but this will be one of the biggest days of your life, so enjoy it! Don’t overthink it and try not to stress it. This should be a fun and exciting moment between you and your partner. Relax and let things come natural.
